In 1882, Jigero Kano developed the art of Judo using Jiu-Jitsu as a model.  The Takenouchi-Ryu martial arts system, founded in 1532, is considered the beginning of Japan’s Jiu-Jitsu forms.

By 1910 Judo was a recognized sport that could be safely engaged in. Judo was given its first opportunity as an event in the 1964 Olympics.
